The Monks' Choir by Candlelight is a chamber, theatrical concert that stops time and transports the audience to the atmosphere of the Middle Ages. A choir of 6 voices performs on stage in monastic costumes, surrounded by candles and ascetic scenography.
Candlelight creates the most authentic space possible—one that could have been experienced 500 years ago, when sacred music was performed exclusively in natural light. It is an event in which voice, silence, and image merge into a single, holistic experience.
The project is inspired by ancient sacred singing, but is based on a distinct contrast between old and new. Classical, meditative music, rock, pop, and film music are heard here in unique choral arrangements, revealing new meanings of well-known melodies, including Ukrainian works.
The concert program is divided into clear thematic blocks that lead the listener through different spaces of emotions and sound:
Sacrum / Source: Dies Irae · Ave Maria
Meditation: Lux Aeterna · Pie Jesu · Adiemus
Rock / pop: Sound of Silence · Hallelujah · Nothing Else Matters
Ukrainian works in an unusual sound: A duck swims along the Tysyn River · Red rue
Music from the movies: Time · Lacrimosa
The program is also complemented by other carefully selected compositions that enhance the atmosphere of the concert and emphasize its meditative, choral character.
Why is it worth it?
1. You will experience the most beautiful combination of sacredness, theater, and contemporary music.
2. You will see a visual design that creates an atmosphere unattainable for any other candlelight concert.
3. You will experience an event that is simultaneously relaxing, calming, and moving.
Do you already know who you want to experience these incredible emotions with? Invite your loved ones to spend a special evening together! Remember that the number of tickets is limited. The longer you delay, the more of the best seats disappear!
The concert is not religious in nature — it is inspired by ancient chant and the aesthetics of the sacrum solely as a musical and cultural form.
