For centuries, kobzars have preserved the historical memory and spiritual strength of the people, and continue their tradition to this day.
Kobzar and lyre player Taras Dorotsky will present a song accompanied by a wheel lyre, an old-world bandura, and a kobza-telenka. In the ancient manner of extended recitative and psalm singing, thoughts and songs about the experiences of war - both personal and folk experience - will be heard.
"It is our duty to carry on and develop the kobzar craft, because there is something to learn. This is elite music. We are obliged to ensure that as many people as possible understand it and bring it back from the centuries. This is a culture that brings us very close to European peoples."
— Yaroslav Krysko
Very relevant topics that affect many of us today will be performed by a unique kobzar and lyr player: about experiencing war in the relationships of family - warrior, mother - son-warrior, family separation, farewell to the community, brotherhood, captivity, victims of friendly fire, about memory and glory.
Kobzarism has been included in the intangible cultural heritage of Ukraine. In the past, its representatives were traveling blind singers and musicians - kobzars, lyre players, and bandurists.
We invite you to a unique opportunity to hear real kobzars of the 21st century!
