"SYMPHONY OF THE SOUL": THE PHILHARMONIC INVITES YOU TO THE GREATNESS AND MAGIC OF SYMPHONY MUSIC

There is music that does not need words, because it speaks directly to the heart. It captivates with the beauty of melodies, fills the soul with light, awakens the most delicate feelings and gives unforgettable emotions.

On October 28, we invite you to an evening of great music, inspiration, and true romantic passion "SYMPHONY OF THE SOUL" performed by the Academic Symphony Orchestra and soloist from Kyiv Mykola Lyubenko (cello). Conductor - Honored Artist of Ukraine Victoria SVALYAVCHYK-TSANKO .

The program focuses on the work of the outstanding Czech composer Antonín Dvořák, whose music combines lyrical depth, national flavor and unique melodic beauty. The Concerto for Cello and Orchestra is one of the most penetrating works in the world symphonic repertoire. In it, virtuosity is combined with tenderness, drama with heartfelt lyrics, and the voice of the cello sounds like a sincere confession of the human soul. Symphony No. 8 in G major will reveal another facet of Dvořák's composer's world - a world of bright melodies, vital energy, natural beauty and joy of being. Her music reminds us of the harmony of man and nature, of the power of feelings and the beauty of life itself.

Symphony No. 8 and Cello Concerto in B Minor are two masterpieces by Antonín Dvořák with a vivid history of creation and interesting facts.

Symphony No. 8 in G major - music filled with light, joy and a connection with Czech folk song and nature, unlike the dramatic symphonies of other authors of the Romantic era. Why it is called "English": the composer quarreled with his German publisher Zimrok over royalties. To annoy him, Dvořák gave the score to the British publishing house Novello, which published it in London and mistakenly signed it as "English Symphony".   The work was first performed on February 2, 1890 in Prague in the Rudolfinum Hall, and was conducted by the author himself. The final part of the piece impresses with its rapid dance movement and powerful trumpet fanfares that create a sense of triumph.

Cello Concerto in B minor. Dvořák wrote this concerto in 1894–1895, when he was director of the National Conservatory in New York. Despite its American nostalgia, the concerto itself is permeated with Czech melodies. The concerto was written for the composer's friend, the cellist Hanusz Wigan. Wigan wanted to add his own virtuoso cadenzas to the score, but Dvořák firmly insisted that the notes remain intact: "I wrote this concerto with tears in my eyes, and every note must remain as it is." Due to a conflict with the composer, Ganusz Wigan was unable to conduct the premiere or play it first. The official world premiere in London on March 19, 1896, was performed by the English cellist Leo Stern on an Antonio Stradivari instrument.

"Symphony of the Soul" - hear the music, feel it with your heart and let it stay with you for a long time. We invite the audience on a journey where each musical image has its own story, and each melody finds a response in the heart.

The evening begins at 6:30 PM.

The host is musicologist Natalia PITSUR.
