The Independence Flag, which Vyacheslav Chornovil and a group of people's deputies brought to the Verkhovna Rada on August 24, 1991, Oleksandra Matviychuk's Nobel Prize, the Emmy ONUKA - the interactive exhibition "That Day" moves to Lviv and adds exhibits.
The exhibition "That Day" is moving from Kyiv to Lviv. From September 26 to October 11, it can be visited at the Lviv Palace of Arts. The Ukraine WOW project is changing location for the first time and working in another city in Ukraine.
"That Day" is an interactive exhibition created by the Ukraine WOW team on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the restoration of Ukraine's independence with the support of the President of Ukraine. It set a record for attendance on days when there were no air raids in the capital, but was unable to continue its work due to security reasons.
"We thank the city of Lviv for its hospitality and willingness to host "That Day," say the founders of Ukraine WOW Yaroslava Gres and Yulia Solovey. "This is a very exciting step for us, because usually Ukraine WOW interactive projects work in the same location - in a hangar at the Central Railway Station in Kyiv. But the great war makes its own adjustments, and we hope that Lviv residents will support us and also love "That Day." We will also bring new exhibits to Lviv - awards that have never been exhibited before: the main American television award "Emmy", which was received in 2024 for the documentary project Culture Quest by musician Nata Zhyzhchenko (ONUKA), as well as the cup of the WTA 250 tennis tournament, which Elina Svitolina won in Auckland, New Zealand in January 2026."
Among the exhibits of the project: the Flag of Independence, which a group of people's deputies led by Vyacheslav Chornovil submitted to the Verkhovna Rada on August 24, 1991; the official symbols of the power of the President of Ukraine - the collar, seal, mace, and standard, as well as the Constitution of Ukraine, on which the President takes the oath during the inauguration; historical artifacts that are evidence of the thousand-year tradition of statehood in our lands; prestigious world awards that Volodymyr Zelensky received on behalf of the Ukrainian people; works by Heorhiy Narbut, Viktor Zaretsky, Tetyana Yablonska, Oleksandr Roitburd, and others.
The interactive part of the exhibition allows you to raise the flag over the dome of the Verkhovna Rada, find yourself in the office of the President of Ukraine and in the Verkhovna Rada thanks to VR goggles, fill out a ballot that was used in the referendum in 1991, record a news broadcast in a TV and radio studio, sing your favorite Ukrainian songs in a karaoke room, vote for the best borscht recipe, walk through a cherry orchard, fly over the Kaniv Reservoir in VR, and also dream together about what we will do first on the Day when...
At the exhibition, visitors will also be able to see awards won by Ukrainian men and women during the full-scale invasion:
- – Olga Kharlan's saber, with which she made the winning thrust at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris;
- – BAFTA Award for the film “Rock, Paper, Scissors”, in which Alexander Rudinsky played;
- – The Nobel Peace Prize, awarded to Oleksandra Matviychuk and the human rights organization “Center for Civil Liberties” in 2022;
- – The Pulitzer Prize, awarded to Vasylisa Stepanenko for her work in Mariupol together with Mstislav Chernov and Yevhen Maloletka;
- – the Eurovision statuette won by Kalush Orchestra in 2022.
The exhibition "That Day" was created by the public organization Ukraine WOW with the support of the President of Ukraine, in partnership with the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine and JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia".
The project was created with the funds of Ukrainian businesses: ROZETKA, McDonald's, Bolt, "Darnytsia", UPG, Ajax Systems, ARS Capital, Nova Poshta. Media partners — The Ukrainians Media, Suspilne Mediateka, TSN.
