Ballet in 2 acts

The duration of the performance is 2 hours and 10 minutes

The ballet "Giselle, or Willis" is almost 180 years old. It is one of the best works of the famous French composer Adolf Charles Adan. The script is based on an ancient legend about Willis - girls who died before the wedding, who every night quench their passion for dance, wanting revenge on everyone who meets on the way.

The premiere of the ballet, created by the genius of Jules Perrault and completed by Jean Coralli, took place on the stage of the Paris Opera on June 28, 1841. and was a resounding success. In 1884, Marius Petipa staged Giselle on the St. Petersburg stage, based on choreography by French authors.

The secret of Giselle's popularity is that in the lively, emotional language of dance, ballet speaks of deep feelings, of love that is stronger than death.

The play is addressed to high school students and adult spectators.
