M. Sadovskyi Academic Music and Drama Theater in Vinnytsia: History and Location

The M. K. Sadovskyi Theater in Vinnytsia is located at 13 Teatralna Street. The theater building was constructed in 1910 and today has the status of a local architectural landmark. The project was designed by renowned architect Hryhorii Artynov.

The first theatrical season opened with a production of the opera «Aida» by G. Verdi. In 1957, the venue was named after Mykola Sadovskyi, a leading figure in Ukrainian theater. In 2004, the venue was granted academic status.

The Company and Repertoire of the M. Sadovskyi Theater

The theater's creative life continues even during the war. Rehearsals for new productions are held, active public work is carried out, and the theater's touring geography continues to expand. The venue participates in festivals, including the online festival «Melpomene of Tavria». Cooperation with other artistic groups is developing, including the «Kvadrat» Youth Center. Together, they have created the productions «God Promised…», «A Flower from a Magic Glove», «Selfie with Alzheimer's», and others, as well as presented a variety of concert programs.

Today, the creative company includes People's and Honored Artists of Ukraine, as well as young talented artists. Ivan Pedoruk has been the theater's director since 2023.

The repertoire of the M. Sadovskyi Academic Music and Drama Theater includes vibrant productions for children and adults:

• the comedy «Too Many Husbands» by R. Cooney;
• the drama «Izanami… The Goddess Who Beckons» based on a play by T. Ivashchenko;
• M. Kulish's tragic farce «The People's Malakhiy»;
• J. Strauss's operetta «Die Fledermaus»;
• the rock opera «The White Crow» by Yu. Rybchynskyi and H. Tatarchenko;
• the musical «Beauty and the Beast» and other masterful productions.

In addition to performances, the theater stage hosts concerts by music stars, comedy shows, creative meetings and seminars, as well as many other events, among which everyone can find something to their taste.
