"The Night Before Christmas"
Tours of the Sumy National Academic Theater of Drama and Musical Comedy named after M. S. Shchepkin
Gogol's favorite story comes to life on stage!
"The Night Before Christmas" by Mykola Gogol, performed by the artists of the Sumy National Academic Theater named after M. S. Shchepkin, is a bright Christmas comedy full of Ukrainian traditions, music, humor, and real holiday magic.
The familiar story of the blacksmith Vakula, the beautiful Oksana, the cunning Solokha and the Devil is presented in an original stage reading with originally reinterpreted folk costumes, colorful scenography and folklore and ritual songs of Slobozhanshchyna in a modern interpretation.
A special highlight of the production is the choral noise imitation : the artists reproduce a whole range of sounds of the surrounding world live, creating an unusual atmosphere and immersing the viewer even more deeply in the events of Christmas night.
Love and adventure, folk humor and mysticism, ancient traditions and modern theatrical vision are intertwined on stage. And the audience will not only observe the events - the production provides the opportunity to become direct participants in the stage action.
"The Night Before Christmas" is a meeting with a well-known story in a new way and an evening filled with Ukrainian flavor, laughter, music, and that special magic that is possible only on Christmas Eve.
✨ Give yourself and your loved ones a real Christmas evening at the theater!
