What to expect:

On the night when the sky and the lake become one, the world shifts and myth comes alive. This happens only once a year, on Kupala Night, and only in Volyn Polissia. It is a time to ask what lies hidden between worlds, whether eternal love exists, and what happens to those who dare to cross the boundary.

Lake Wind is a production by Harmyder Theatre, based on a work by Yurko Pokalchuk, where the mythological world of Volyn Polissia comes to life. It immerses the audience in ancient myth, pre-Christian deities, and unseen creatures that still live on in the legends of this mystical land.

On Kupala Night, Volyn is drawn into an underwater realm where time stands stil l— there is no aging, and the love of Princess O seems eternal and perfect. But this fragile harmony is disrupted when the lake prince encounters a human girl. This meeting sets him on a journey of transformation, awakening, and inner conflict.

The performance both celebrates and explores the region’s mythology, drawing the audience deep into its world. The actors embody its magic through movement, voice, and interaction — the stage becomes a space where sound and motion dissolve the boundaries of the familiar. The experience is enriched by authentic Polissian songs, rare traditional instruments, and original costumes and masks.

Premiering on a large stage for the first time, Lake Wind is a story of transition and the cost of choice, of love as both power and trial, and of the fragile boundary between worlds — closer than it seems.
