The performance “Let No One Cry for Me” in Odesa will take place at the Ukrainian Theater.
“Let No One Cry for Me” (Lesya Not from the Textbook) is a play in the genre of plastic-poetic performance, dedicated to the 155th anniversary of the birth of Lesya Ukrainka. The premiere took place on February 25, 2026. The following took part in the creation of the performance:
The creators of the performance abandon the usual, canonical image and do not offer the viewer Lesya Ukrainka as an “eternal sufferer”. In this production, the poetess appears as a living person – ironic, emotional, vulnerable and at the same time strong, in love with freedom and life itself. Through words, movement and internal monologues, her true voice sounds – without embellishment, without censorship, without layered myths. This is a story about loved ones and loneliness, about pain and the desire to live, about love, loss, travel, the struggle with the body and the indomitability of the spirit.
This is a kind of conversation through time with a poet who does not seek sympathy, but insists on honesty. The plastic-poetic performance unfolds as an intimate immersion in the inner world of Lesya Ukrainka, where words, music and movement exist on equal terms. Poetry, prose, letters, memories of loved ones and monologues from dramas create a multifaceted portrait - without idealization, but with maximum truthfulness. A different Lesya opens before the audience - sharp and contradictory. The plastic scenes do not illustrate literally, but convey the state - through the body, through tension and explosion, through silence and strength. At such moments, modern plastic allows you to express what cannot always be put into words.
Duration - 60 minutes, without intermission. The format of the performance is “The Spectator on the Stage”. We are waiting for you!
