"Sentimental Story", based on the short story by Mykola Khvylovy, is a sincere conversation about finding oneself and one's place in the world, about hopes that collide with reality, and about a person who tries not to lose their own "self" amidst the noise of the era.
The performance "Sentimental Story" in Kyiv will take place at the International Center for Contemporary Art (October Palace), entrance 4, 3rd floor. Chamber stage.
The Luhansk Regional Academic Ukrainian Music and Drama Theater presents a play in the tragicomedy genre "Sentimental Story" based on the story by Mykola Khvylovy, directed by Valery Romanko.
The 1920s sound surprisingly relevant today. "Don't you understand how I'm drawn to the distance..." - says the main character Bianca and sets off on a journey to the ideal people of the ideal country. Over time, she will realize that this place does not yet exist, and the future she dreams of has not yet come. The love she strives for is not a perfect image, but the living, vulnerable soul of another.
The world is imperfect.
But the new world that the heroes of this sentimental story yearn for so much is not born somewhere far away - it begins with a person who dares to create it around himself.
This performance is an opportunity to open your heart, accept the imperfection of the world, and find the strength within yourself to make it better.
Duration – 70 minutes. We are waiting for you!
