Fascinating mythology of the Carpathians, Hutsul authenticity, deep psychology and fatal love - all this awaits you in a vivid production by one of the best Ukrainian directors, Ivan Uryvsky.
The performance "Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors" in Odesa will take place at the Ukrainian Theater.
The Odessa Theater named after V. Vasylko invites you to a performance in the genre of musical and plastic performance based on the famous story by Mykhailo Kotsiubynsky. The creative team includes:
The mountainous region in the performance appears as a mysterious and almost inaccessible world with its own special rhythm and laws. The Hutsuls are a unique people who subtly feel nature and live in close connection with it. The memory of their ancestors is deeply rooted in the minds of people. And it is worth stopping just for a moment to feel this invisible thread of unity, because each of us is a continuation of our kind and carries its experience, pain and heritage.
The stage action unfolds as a multi-layered story, full of symbols, metaphors and images that lead the viewer to understand the origins and connection of generations. At the center of the narrative is the dramatic love story of Ivan and Marichka. Their feeling appears strong and at the same time doomed, because in it spiritual purity and relentless human enmity collide, which ultimately leads to a tragic ending.
The duration of the performance is 1 hour 20 minutes (without intermission). The format is “The Spectator on the Stage”. We are waiting for you!
