Alina Isayeva is a Ukrainian stand-up artist. Alina’s hometown is Odesa. It was there that she began her journey in comedy. The full-scale war was one of the key factors that influenced Alina Isayeva’s work and changed her view of stand-up as a genre. The comedian admitted that after February 2022, she and her colleagues held her first charity concert. Since then, she has been performing exclusively on a volunteer basis for almost a year, directing her activities to support those who needed it most.
Later, Alina took a break for about six months. However, she could not completely leave the stage. The impetus for her return was helping a volunteer friend who was opening a charity fund. Then they organized a fundraiser to purchase a drone, but the campaign actually stopped - they managed to collect only about ten thousand hryvnias. Watching how other activists draw attention to donations, Alina decided to use her own creativity as a tool for support. She recorded a humorous video that unexpectedly gained a significant number of views. Thanks to this, the fundraiser was closed.
It was then that the comedian realized that it was time to return to stand-up, combining the stage with charity. Thus was born a new stage in her career, in which performances became not only a way of interacting with the audience, but also a real tool for helping. For Alina herself, stand-up also became personal therapy. After the comedian's brother and uncle voluntarily went to the front, humor helped her cope with depressive states, find inner support, and regain a sense of control over her life.
Alina Isaeva captivates the audience not only with her wit, but also with her sincerity. Her charisma, naturalness, and ability to talk about complex things simply have made the comedian a prominent figure in the modern Ukrainian stand-up industry. Her style has long gone beyond the usual entertaining jokes. For the artist, the stage is a space for communication, where humor helps to find answers to difficult life questions.
Isaeva often builds her performances as a frank dialogue with the audience. Alina does not avoid hot topics and does not try to embellish reality. On the contrary, she calls things by their right names, boldly jokes about what hurts many, and skillfully combines emotional depth with the absurdity of everyday life.
The focus of Alina Isayeva's work is on burnout and such topics as constant stress, chronic fatigue, and trying to figure out how to continue living when uncertainty and chaos reign around. The comic satirizes reality, where people have to look for small reasons for joy between air raids, news from the front, and daily challenges.
Personal experience adds special sincerity to her live broadcasts. Since Alina's closest relatives - a brother and uncle - volunteered to defend Ukraine, the artist shares with her fans her own anxieties, experiences, and even funny stories related to supporting the military and volunteering.
Alina Isayeva was able to turn comedy into an effective mechanism for helping. If for many artists a successful concert is measured by standing ovations or sold tickets, then for the comedian the main indicator has become the results of charity collections. Instead of the classic commercial format, Alina is increasingly organizing events where all the profits or a significant part of the funds are donated to the military. She frankly says that the greatest recognition is not loud applause from the audience, but closed collections for the needs of the defenders.
Today, Alina calls comedy “therapy that brings benefits”. Her work helps not only the audience, but also those who are on the front line. In addition to performances, the artist works on scripts for YouTube videos. In her videos, she harshly ridicules toxic positivity and empty phrases like “don’t be sad, everything will be fine”, explaining why such advice often does not work in real life and is unable to support a person in a moment of crisis.
At the same time, the comedian actively performs outside Ukraine. During a charity tour of European cities, she presented her comedy blocks to the Ukrainian diaspora. Such concerts allow not only to maintain contact with compatriots abroad, but also to accumulate significant amounts for drones and other needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Among the formats and projects in which Alina Isayeva participates:
A special place in Alina Isayeva’s work is occupied by the solo program “Just Start Living”. This is an honest attempt to find answers to questions that concern many Ukrainians today. In her monologue, the comic reflects on how to learn to let go of everything bad, not dwell on fears, and allow yourself to feel good again.humor even in difficult circumstances. The comedian talks about finding inner balance, the ability to notice happy moments and find at least something good in every day.
This stand-up has become a reminder for many fans that even in the darkest times, humor can be not an escape from reality, but a way to survive it, maintain humanity and not lose hope.
