Band History
BEZ OBMEZHEN (until 2022 - BEZ OBMEZHEN) is a Ukrainian rock band founded in 1999 in the city of Mukachevo, Zakarpattia. At the very beginning, when the musicians had only started creating their own music, Serhii Tanchynets was the band's drummer. Later, the group BEZ OBMEZHEN was formed, with Serhii becoming its frontman and lead vocalist. The frontman's talent and charisma remain an essential part of the band's success to this day.
The band's first rehearsals took place in a classroom at the Mukachevo Technological Institute. It was in Mukachevo that the group began its creative journey and first introduced itself to the public at a concert held on January 14, 1999. At that time, the lineup consisted of Serhii Tanchynets, Ihor Rybar, Vladyslav Vorobets, and Serhii Popovych.
The band's name originated during a period of creative exploration, when the musicians could not settle on a specific direction within rock music. They wanted the freedom to develop different styles without imposing limitations on themselves. This idea of creative freedom became the foundation of the band's name.
Creative Journey
The band's debut performance outside Zakarpattia took place in 2002 at a concert in Lviv. In 2005, the band became a finalist at the Global Battle Of The Bands festival. BEZ OBMEZHEN was represented in the category «Best New Band of Western Ukraine».
In 2006, the band signed a contract with a producer, marking the beginning of its professional career in the music industry. The following year, the band adopted the English-language name Without Limits. During the same period, the musicians released their debut album Underground and a music video for the title track. Within the first days of rotation, the song topped the «M2O» chart on M1, while the video remained among the channel's ten most popular clips for an extended period.
In 2008, the band's lineup changed. Since then, the group has performed in an almost unchanged formation. In the spring of 2012, the band joined the television song marathon «Song Unites Us». The event was broadcast on Pershyi Natsionalnyi. The marathon lasted 110 hours and featured 2,012 performers. It was entered into the Guinness World Records and the National Register of Records of Ukraine.
In April 2015, work on the album «#IBreatheYou» was completed. The material had been prepared over the course of two years. The album includes ten tracks, among them «Pour Me Some Wine», «Winter», and «Mother's Words».
Participation in Projects and Festivals
In 2016, the band participated in the seventh season of the vocal competition «The X Factor». During the audition, they performed the song «Can't Live Without Her» and advanced to the fourth live show. However, they left the project due to insufficient audience support. After appearing on the show, the musicians organized a live concert for their fans.
In June 2013, the band took part in the annual international festival «Rock Sich», held on Trukhaniv Island and founded by Oleh Skrypka. The group also appeared on the program «Music for Adults with Mariia Burmaka». In September of the same year, the musicians performed at «Oktoberfest» in Kyiv and have remained regular participants ever since. At the end of 2013, the band returned to the Ukrainian-language version of its name, BEZ OBMEZHEN.
The band's history also includes collaborations with the film industry. In the autumn of 2012, Mykhailo Dobosh's short film «A Dream Comes with Faith. Nocturne 1» (Somnium Adveho Verus. Nocturnum 1) premiered. The leading role was played by the band's frontman Serhii Tanchynets. Guitarist Ihor Rybar not only appeared in the film but also composed its soundtrack, marking the band's successful collaboration with filmmakers.
During the summer of 2017, BEZ OBMEZHEN further expanded its popularity and gained wider recognition by performing at festivals including Razomfest in Lviv, Rock&Buh FEST (Khmelnytskyi), Atlas Weekend (Kyiv), «THE GREAT CAULDRON» (Zhytomyr Region), Faine Misto in Ternopil, «Bandershtat» (Lutsk), Home Fest in Odesa, and many others.
Style and Development
BEZ OBMEZHEN's defining characteristic is its ability to deeply affect listeners emotionally. The band's songs create a powerful emotional response, immersing audiences in a genuine whirlwind of feelings. Their concerts are known for a unique atmosphere filled with mutual warmth between the musicians and their fans.
The band's music is regularly played on numerous Ukrainian radio stations, while its music videos are broadcast on the country's leading television channels. Every performance is an explosion of energy and deep emotion. The musicians give everything they have, captivating audiences from the very first seconds and maintaining that emotional intensity until the final chord. Today, BEZ OBMEZHEN is widely recognized as Ukraine's most romantic rock band and the country's most actively touring group.
Social Activity
Serhii Tanchynets has said that he actively uses social media. According to him, very few people in today's world can do without it. Therefore, he not only follows user activity but also constantly communicates with followers. The band's leader reads messages, responds to requests, and stays in touch for as long as his energy allows.
After the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion, the band made the principled decision to remove the Latin letter «Z» from its name, replacing it with the Ukrainian letter «З». This was a response to the use of the «Z» symbol by Russian invading forces to mark their military equipment.
The band is also actively involved in charitable work, supporting important initiatives. During tours across Europe and the United States, the musicians raise funds to help Ukrainian military personnel and civilians.
