History of the band
Spiv Brativ is a Ukrainian rock band from Cherkasy, founded in 2010. The group consists of four brothers – Dmytro (the initiator of the creation of the musical group), Artemiy, as well as twins Leontiy and Antoniy Osychnyuk.
The brothers are graduates of the Cherkasy Music College named after S. S. Hulak-Artemovsky, which became the foundation of their professional development in the music industry. Despite the widespread myth, the boys' father was not the initiator of the creation of the group – the idea was born from the elder brother Dmytro. He was the first to orient himself in the local Cherkasy scene, understand how show business works, and began to look for a way to create his own group. The other brothers willingly supported the idea – they were attracted by music, the stage and the opportunity to become part of creative culture.
At the beginning of his journey, Dmytro actually formed the group from scratch – he dreamed of his own group, but for a long time could not find the right people. The idea of creating a band of brothers appeared spontaneously, but quickly grew into a serious creative project. Thus began the Osychnyuks' debut as artists, where each gradually mastered the instruments and stage skills.
In November 2013, the band, together with their father, reached the final of the show "One Family". Due to their external similarity and the format of the quartet, the musicians began to be called the "Ukrainian Beatles". This gave the first surge of popularity, but at the same time created a persistent stereotype. The artists even performed covers and translated the songs of the legendary "Liverpool Four" into Ukrainian. However, later the brothers had to make a lot of effort to separate their own style from someone else's image. The guys emphasized respect for the music of The Beatles, but insisted on their own identity as performers with their own sound and creativity.
Creative path
At the start of their career, Spiv Brativ gained recognition on the underground scene of Cherkasy. Their live performances at rock concerts attracted the attention of both new fans and other artists. Even then, the charisma and potential of the musicians were evident. Although the path to great popularity turned out to be not as fast as expected. At some point, the group decided to change its approach. The brothers went to China, where they spent two years performing, gaining experience and forming their own style. This unique tour became an important stage in their formation.
After returning to Ukraine, the group continued its active activities. In October 2014, Spiv Brativ presented the thematic program "Father-Kobzar", created based on the poetry of Taras Shevchenko. The release combined classical literature and modern music, and also had an educational mission - to popularize Ukrainian culture among young people.
In February 2015, Spiv Brativ presented their first studio album “With love in my heart, energy in my body and rock-n-roll in my head” – the album became an important step in the development of the group. In the same year, the artists took part in the show “Ukraine has talent”, where they reached the semi-finals. And later they performed in the international competition Global Battle Of The Bands, taking fourth place.
Also, socially important compositions began to appear in the work of the Spiv Brativ group – in particular, the song “Eyes of the Heavenly Hundred”, which became an emotional reaction to the events in the country and found a response among fans.
Style and creative development
The work of the Spiv Brativ group is based on a combination of rock-n-roll, pop and original songs with elements of satire and patriotic themes. Their genre is not limited by boundaries - it is a mix of emotions, meanings and live sound, which forms a recognizable sound. The main idea promoted by the group is that music should work for good and be an instrument of positive change. The group's repertoire includes songs, including both lyrical compositions and driving tracks that are easy to remember and have the potential to become hits.
In 2022, the group joined the show "Voice of the Country", which brought the musicians a new wave of popularity and expanded the audience of fans. The moment of the group's departure from the show was especially symbolic - the release was supposed to be released on February 24, 2022, the day the full-scale invasion began. This event became a turning point for both the country and the group's further work.
As part of the project "Musical Defense", the Spiv Brothers released a number of singles - "In the Kherson City", "Chornobaivka", "Bunker", Maskva, "You are the Button". These tracks quickly spread across the Internet and found a response among listeners. Despite the busyness of each of the band members, the brothers regularly gather in the studio, work on new releases, video clips and improve their style in order to continue to develop as a team.
Civic Position
With the beginning of a full-scale war, the creativity of the Spiv bandBrothers has acquired a new sound and meaning. The musicians began to create songs that depict events in the country, support morale and capture reality through music. One of the most resonant compositions was the track Maskva, which collected millions of listens and became a real hit.
The band actively performs with charity concerts, organizes tours and participates in festivals aimed at supporting the Ukrainian military. The band's live performances often take place directly on the front line - where music becomes not just a tool for rebooting, but also a source of strength and inspiration.
The artists regularly visit military positions, communicate with them, share emotions and support their fighting spirit. For the brothers, this is not just a part of their activities, but an important mission. It is thanks to such sincerity, dedication and active civic position that the band gains even more recognition, and their fans stay with them, supporting each new release and concert.
