Berliner Döner is a Ukrainian musician whose work blends ironic storytelling with a modern sound that combines hip-hop, guitars, and synthesizers. The artist described his second EP «The Pain of Transition» as therapeutic, while music critics called it the most stylistically cohesive release in Berliner Döner's discography at the time of its release.

Creative journey

Music entered the artist's life during his final years of school, when he first started playing the guitar. At that time, he set himself a goal shared by many teenagers: to become popular with girls and a role model for other boys. Eventually, that ambition grew into the creation of his own musical project.

Berliner Döner began his public artistic career in 2022, although he became widely recognised in 2023, when he gradually introduced his music to listeners through a series of original singles.

One of his earliest releases was the track «Lina», which combined light-hearted humour, self-irony, and honest storytelling. In this song, the artist reflects on love, everyday moments, and personal emotions, turning ordinary details into a complete narrative. According to the musician himself, the track originally consisted of several amusing episodes, but over time unexpectedly evolved into a musical novella about a long-term relationship that had already lasted nearly eight years.

Soon afterwards, the performer released his next single, «Everything Will Pass (Night)», which attracted listeners with its emotional sincerity, intimate atmosphere, and distinctive mood.

Discographic debut

In the spring of 2024, Berliner Döner presented his debut EP «Beetles in Amber». The record became an important milestone in his career and a personal attempt to explore the inner experiences of someone searching for stability in an ever-changing reality. The musician explained that the EP is dedicated to the chaotic search for solid ground beneath one's feet, when almost every decision becomes a moral choice.

His next major release was the second EP «The Pain of Transition», which came out in April 2026. Many consider this work to be the most cohesive release in the artist's discography. The sound, instrumentation, and lyrics blend together so organically that the overall atmosphere captures the listener's attention first, while the lyrical depth gradually unfolds with repeated listens. The artist admitted that he greatly enjoyed working on these songs, investing each track with thoughts that accompanied him throughout a period of personal change. Exploring the subject of personal transformation, the musician came to the conclusion that such stages are a natural part of human development rather than a sign of crisis or catastrophe.

At the same time, Berliner Döner continues to expand collaborations with other representatives of the Ukrainian music and entertainment industries. The musician keeps introducing new songs to his audience while steadily growing his fan base.

Choosing a stage name

The stage name was chosen spontaneously while the musician was having lunch at a bar in Kyiv. He decided that Berliner Döner sounded interesting and somewhat rebellious, and chose to continue his career under that pseudonym.

Style and lyrical themes

Berliner Döner's music is built around an exceptionally honest conversation with the listener. Through his songs, the artist uses gentle self-irony to talk about his personal life, relationships, everyday situations, and inner experiences, finding reasons for both reflection and a smile in ordinary moments. His music is not confined to a single genre: some tracks are driven by the energy of pop-punk and the atmosphere of rave parties, while others stand out through their calm, reflective mood and emotional subtlety.

The artist's distinctive style has developed at the intersection of alternative hip-hop, guitar-driven sound, and synthesizer textures. This approach allows Berliner Döner to experiment continuously with his sound while maintaining a recognisable artistic identity. That creative freedom enables him to write songs that work equally well through headphones and on stage, leaving space for a sincere dialogue with his fans.

Civic position

Berliner Döner participates in charity concerts and other events, combining his musical career with support for important social initiatives. In particular, in 2024 he performed a live set at the improvisational show «Fire», where the organisers traditionally direct the proceeds toward supporting Ukrainian soldiers and volunteers.

At the same time, Berliner Döner's work reflects the experience of Ukrainian society during wartime. Through his songs, the artist explores complex psychological states, uncertainty, and loss experienced by millions of people. A vivid example of this approach is the single «February», which directly addresses collective trauma and the emotions connected with the beginning of the full-scale invasion. Through his music, Berliner Döner seeks not only to capture the emotions of his era but also to help listeners process them together, transforming personal stories into a shared cultural experience.
