Kurgan & Agregat is a Ukrainian hip-hop group that has won the title of “diamonds of Ukrainian rap and current Ukrainian pop culture.” The group, which became a phenomenon of the national scene, was founded in the Kharkiv region by three friends: Yevgeny Volodchenko (Kurgan) and twin brothers Amil and Ramil Nasirov. Each of them has a bright natural charisma and talent. Childhood spent in the countryside became an inexhaustible source of inspiration for the group members. A common love of music, humor and a desire to create something original united the comrades into a powerful creative team.
The Kurgan & Agregat group began its path to popularity and recognition from the listening audience with amateur videos. The clips were shot on a phone and posted on the Internet. As for the choice of the group's name, it has a symbolic meaning. "Kurgan" is the pseudonym of Yevgeny Volodchenko, which emphasizes the connection of the performer with his native places. The word "Agregat" personifies rudeness, mechanicalness, but at the same time hints at strength and invincibility. Thus, the group's work organically combines rural flavor and urban aesthetics.
A real breakthrough occurred on April 13, 2014, when a video clip for the song "Kurgan - Love" appeared on one of the YouTube channels. The work quickly went viral, attracting the attention of music industry fans to the group. Satirical lyrics and a unique sound made the group a favorite of the public. The unusual presentation and humor inherent in the compositions of Kurgan & Agregat contributed to the rapid growth of the number of fans. Hits began to gain hundreds of thousands of views on social networks.
In March 2017, the group released the mixtape "Degan", the main track of which became a kind of anthem for fans of Ukrainian rap. In the composition, the performers raise the important topic of self-identification - a question that is especially worrying for those who are just entering adulthood. "Degan" is a reflection on internal desires and temptations that force a person to make a choice. It is about decisions that can make you regret and feel disappointed.
On April 30, 2018, Kurgan & Agregat presented their discographic debut - the album "Srednya Shkola Rapa" (S. Sh. R.). The band performed on the stages of the ZaxidFest, Atlas Weekend, "Faine Misto", Hedonism Festival and others. And in May 2023, the Aby Sho Music label released the records "Zembonju" and the collection The Best.
Kurgan & Agregat do not copy Western singers, which makes the sound of the band unique. Some of the musicians' works, according to fans and producers, are, without exaggeration, brilliant. If you trace the development of the group, you might get the impression that at first it was just a way to joke with the audience. Then the group became an Internet meme. However, today, before the audience, they are no longer just an entertainment phenomenon, but real professionals.
Perhaps the members of Kurgan & Agregat themselves do not fully realize how significant the evolution of the group was. However, the fact remains obvious: the charismatic Ukrainian rappers have undergone an impressive transformation. And now their music finds a response from both young and adult audiences. The group is actively touring. Kurgan & Agregat live shows as part of concert tours take place not only in regional centers, but also in provincial towns.
After the start of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, the band members focused their efforts on helping the country. Yevgeny Volodchenko became a volunteer in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Brothers Amil and Ramil took up volunteering, supporting the military and civilians. In the context of Ukrainian realities, the band released a new album, "Field of Rosin", in February 2025. The album became a creative manifesto and reflection of the musicians on the events in Ukraine.
