Nemo: what makes the Eurovision 2024 winner unique

Nemo is a rapper, musician, singer from Switzerland, whose real name is Nemo Mettler, and his biggest achievement is winning the Eurovision Song Contest in 2024 with the song The Code. Nemo entered the history of the competition not only as the winner, but also as the first non-binary participant (as the artist prefers to use the pronoun they when talking about him).

A success story

On the way to the triumph in Malmö, Nemo Metler distinguished himself in a rather bright creative way. From early childhood he played several musical instruments - violin, drums, piano. The artist released his first mini-album Clownfisch at the age of 16. The release ranks 95th in the Swiss charts. In 2017, the single Du was released, which immediately flew to the 4th place in the music charts and eventually received platinum status. At the same time, the mini-albums Momänt-Kids and Fundbüro were released, 7 songs from which received places in the official Swiss chart.

Then the artist moves to Berlin, where his career is rapidly rising: new successful songs are released, and the musician is becoming more and more recognizable. Finally, in 2023, Nemo declares his gender identity, which he defines as non-binary.

In his works, the singer touches on the topics of the individual's search for his place in the world, mental health.

It is also interesting that Nemo and representatives of Ukraine Alyona Alyona and Jerry Heil developed friendly relations during the Eurovision Song Contest 2024. And Nemo even created (or rather - created) an author's cover of a song by Ukrainian singers. The bright artist's acquaintance with Ukraine does not end there, and a Nemo concert in the Atlas concert hall has already been announced for March 2025.
