Band History
ADAM is a Ukrainian neo-soul band from Kyiv. The group was founded by composer, sound producer, and arranger Mykhailo Klymenko together with his wife, vocalist and the band's muse, Oleksandra Norova. The band members first met while studying at the Kyiv College of Variety and Circus Arts. It was there that not only their personal relationship but also their creative partnership began, eventually growing into a full-fledged musical project.
The idea of creating ADAM was never intended as the ultimate goal, but rather as a space for expressing thoughts, experiences, and emotions. Before launching the band, Mykhailo had already gained extensive experience in the music industry. Klymenko worked as an arranger and wrote his first original song while still in his second year of college. He received his first significant fee of 300 dollars for that composition. Following his songwriting debut, he began creating hits for Ukrainian music stars, including Mariia Yaremchuk, the band «Alibi», and Oleksandr Ponomarov.
Although ADAM was not initially Mykhailo's primary professional focus, the project immediately became something special for its listeners. The band's sincere and inspired creativity, combined with the talent and charisma of its members, laid the foundation for its future popularity and recognition.
Creative Career
ADAM's debut album, «CHUZMUZ», released in 2017, immediately attracted the attention of both fans and critics. LiRoom included the record in its list of the 17 best albums of the year. In 2019, the band released its second album, «Ronim». The record entered the Top 100 of Apple Music Ukraine. It was also this release that marked the beginning of ADAM's music video history, with four songs from the album receiving official videos.
The band's real breakthrough came in 2023. The songs «Slowly» and «Only for Us» won over listeners across the country. «Slowly» became especially popular, topping the charts and collecting more than 20 million streams. ADAM's success did not happen overnight. The musicians earned recognition step by step by simply doing what they truly loved and gradually winning over their audience.
In September 2023, ADAM released the collaborative single «Meteor Showers» together with singer KOLA. The year 2024 brought even more achievements. ADAM was shortlisted for the YUNA Awards in several categories, including «Discovery of the Year» and «Best Duo / Collaboration».
The Band's Style and Development
From the very beginning of its creative journey, ADAM has focused on music that speaks the language of emotions. The band's songs tell stories about relationships and deep inner experiences. Although most of their compositions revolve around love and human connections, the musicians are not afraid to explore more serious and even painful subjects.
Mykhailo Klymenko admits that some songs are born as true manifestos in which the voice of the heart is heard. Yet once the wave of emotions subsides, he realizes the importance of maintaining balance. Moderation, he believes, gives creativity greater depth. It is precisely this gentle sincerity, bright romance, and refined elegance that make ADAM's music so distinctive. It flows calmly and profoundly, inviting listeners to return to its embrace again and again.
The band's live performances are a story of their own. The atmosphere at their concerts is so magnetic that audiences can lose themselves in it, dissolve into it, and then rediscover themselves anew. During concert tours, Mykhailo and Sasha are joined on stage by guitarist Maksym Kozachenko, drummer Andrii Hrytsenko, and sound engineer Viacheslav Shevchenko.
In addition, ADAM are true enthusiasts of music video production. Most of the band's videos are the result of the creativity and hard work of Sasha Norova and Mykhailo Klymenko. They simultaneously serve as directors, cinematographers, stylists, and production designers. It is this artistic individuality that creates an atmosphere unlike anything else.
