Arsen Mirzoyan is a Ukrainian singer, songwriter, and Honored Artist of Ukraine. Music and creativity did not immediately become part of the life of the performer known for his distinctive voice and charismatic personality. Arsen Mirzoyan was born and raised in Zaporizhzhia, a city with a rich history and notable achievements. He received his higher education at Zaporizhzhia State Engineering Academy, where he trained as a non-ferrous metallurgy engineer. After graduating, he began his career at Motor Sich. Later, he moved to the mechanical workshop of Zaporizhstal, where he worked for the next twelve years.His love for music and interest in culture and creativity emerged during his school years. He actively participated in various public events and performed at concerts. Arsen also wrote poetry, some of which later became the basis for his songs. At the time, however, the young man could not have imagined that music would become an integral part of his life. Instead, he saw himself as an ordinary worker and a reliable support for his family. The talented young man never received a formal musical education, but fate had other plans.
Creative Journey
In 1998, when Arsen was twenty, his friends invited him to join an amateur rock band. The small group eventually evolved into a band called Totem. The lineup changed constantly, and the project ultimately transformed into Mirzoyan’s solo initiative, Baburka. The band’s music quickly resonated with a broad audience. The group performed at popular Ukrainian festivals such as Perlyna Sezonu and Chervona Ruta, gaining recognition among new fans.During one of his performances, Arsen met Oleksandr Polozhynskyi, the frontman of Tartak. At the time, the singer hosted the “Svizha Krov” program on M1 television, a project that introduced young talents on their way to wider popularity. Thanks to the program, members of Baburka appeared on television. Arsen Mirzoyan’s rapid rise to fame soon became a topic of widespread discussion.
However, 2000 nearly became a turning point for Mirzoyan’s creative career. He unexpectedly lost hearing in his left ear and later became completely deaf. This was a serious challenge, and the musician spent a great deal of time undergoing treatment. Thanks to the efforts of medical professionals, he managed to regain his hearing and return to the work he loved. Despite the difficulties, Mirzoyan did not abandon his dream. After recovering, he continued his journey toward the hearts of his fans with renewed energy, developing a distinctive style and refining his sound.
The Voice of Ukraine and the Artist’s Development
Participation in The Voice of Ukraine became a landmark moment in Arsen Mirzoyan’s rise in the music industry. In 2011, the artist took part in the vocal competition on 1+1 television. For his audition, the singer chose the powerful song “Ya ne zdam sia bez boiu” by Okean Elzy. His striking performance impressed two judges – Ruslana and Stas Piekha. Both mentors pressed their buttons, but Arsen chose to join Stas Piekha’s team. Arsen Mirzoyan’s name became known throughout the country.Participation in The Voice of Ukraine was a difficult challenge for the musician. He was even described as a “rebel” among the show’s contestants. However, despite his undeniable talent and strong performance in the final, Mirzoyan did not win. He finished in fourth place.
Solo Career
Arsen Mirzoyan’s discographic debut took place in November 2011. The album “Buttons” consisted of 10 songs. The eleventh track, “Ivana Kupala,” was released as a bonus song and recorded in collaboration with Tonya Matvienko. His second release, “Uncomfortable Beds,” came out in 2013 and contained 11 tracks. In 2015, he released the album “Night,” followed the next year by “Paper Snow.” In 2017, Arsen released the album “Words and Notes,” which included 11 songs. His fifth studio album, “Ingredient,” was released in 2019. The album was presented during a concert at the Ukraina Palace. In 2021, Arsen Mirzoyan’s fans received another album, “Monarchy.”Recent Period
From 2022 to 2026, Arsen Mirzoyan’s work underwent noticeable changes under the influence of events in Ukraine, incorporating both patriotic motifs and personal lyricism. During this period, the artist expanded his discography with the mini-albums “Sun” (2023) and “Call Signs” (2025), and in May 2026 released his eighth studio album, “Tired Spring.” His songs from this period, including “Virity,” “Ne Prosto Slovo,” and the duet with Tonya Matvienko “Ne Krai,” reflect the moods and experiences of contemporary Ukrainians. The artist regularly releases music videos, explores new musical approaches, and continues to develop his distinctive pop-rock sound.
