History
Sick Solution was formed in Vinnytsia in 2016. At the beginning, the members did not set any grand ambitions for themselves - the band was created primarily for the enjoyment of making music and the opportunity to perform as an opening act at local concerts. This marked the beginning of the group's creative journey, which would eventually turn them into one of the most prominent representatives of the modern Ukrainian heavy music scene. From small performances for local audiences, Sick Solution gradually grew into a band recognized far beyond their hometown.
The Name
The name Sick Solution was created at the same time as the band itself in 2016. According to the musicians, there were no lengthy discussions or complicated concepts involved - they simply found a phrase that perfectly conveyed the aggressive nature, heavy style, and overall atmosphere of the music they wanted to create.
Creative Journey
During the early stage of their career, Sick Solution mainly worked within the post-hardcore and metalcore genres, drawing inspiration from bands such as Parkway Drive and Architects. It was during this period that the band's original sound was formed. The result was the release of the four-track EP «Memories», which came out in 2019. The EP combined songs about inner struggles, love, pain, and complex emotions, fully reflecting the band's creative mindset at that time.
The Evolution of Their Style
In 2020, the release of the single GODZILLA became a turning point in the band's history. It was then that Sick Solution completely redefined their sound, embracing a much heavier and darker style by combining metalcore with hardcore, self-irony, memes, and a deliberately heightened sense of absurdity. As the musicians themselves explained, they genuinely tried to play classic metalcore because they were young and, to some extent, influenced by popular trends within the Ukrainian music scene. However, over time they realized that creating music they truly enjoyed was far more important than meeting someone else's expectations.
The band even faced a choice - either end the project or completely change its creative direction. In the end, the musicians decided to focus on hardcore while keeping selected metalcore elements, samples, and signature guitar techniques in their compositions, significantly increasing both the experimental and humorous aspects of their music.
Creative Growth
The new approach quickly proved successful. In 2021, Sick Solution received the prestigious The Best Ukrainian Metal Act award, becoming the first hardcore band in history to win the competition. This recognition significantly strengthened the band's position on the Ukrainian scene, opened the doors to major festivals, expanded their audience, and attracted many new fans. The musicians themselves stated that together they had written their name into the history of Ukrainian metal music and sincerely thanked everyone who contributed to this achievement.
In 2025, the band's discography was expanded with the EP «1995». In the autumn of the same year, the band embarked on the largest nationwide Ukrainian tour in their history in support of the release. The EP was named after the birth year shared by all four band members and became a deeply personal story of four people united not only by music but also by common life experiences. The album is dedicated to a generation that grew up surrounded by constant uncertainty, loss, and struggle.
An especially meaningful aspect of «1995» is that it was created while the entire band was serving in the 12th Special Purpose Brigade «Azov» of the National Guard of Ukraine. Work on the material began in June 2025, but because of combat missions, military training, and active service, it was only completed in the autumn.
While the previous release Hardcore Yakuza was a concentrated explosion of energy and aggression, «1995» reveals a different side of Sick Solution - darker, emotionally heavier, and more profound. Its songs explore exhaustion, loss, the search for meaning, and the desire to find light even within a constantly changing reality.
Style and Themes
Having evolved from post-hardcore and metalcore, Sick Solution gradually developed their own distinctive musical identity. Today, the band's sound combines metallic hardcore with influences from heavy metal, djent, black metal, nu metal, and melodic hardcore. The band deliberately avoids identifying with the classic old-school hardcore tradition represented by groups such as Hatebreed or Terror, instead drawing inspiration from the new wave of global hardcore, highlighting bands such as Knocked Loose, Nasty, and Wolf Down.
On stage, Sick Solution stand out for their powerful energy, highly aggressive performance style, and confident live sound that immediately captivates audiences. At the same time, the musicians emphasize that they see their project as more entertaining than overly serious. At the heart of their music lies straightforward, honest energy expressed through short, concentrated tracks that are sometimes complemented by metalcore riffs, rap sections, or samples. The band's lyrics often take the form of concise manifestos that address social issues while combining harsh sound with irony and contemporary culture.
Future Goals
Today, all members of Sick Solution serve in the 12th Special Purpose Brigade «Azov» of the National Guard of Ukraine. Despite their military duties, the musicians continue creating music and perform charity concerts whenever possible. All proceeds from these performances are donated to support their unit.
Speaking about the future, the band members do not set ambitious goals such as becoming the number one band or conquering the global music industry at any cost. For them, the priority is simply to continue making music as long as inspiration remains, enjoy the creative process, and perform for people.
Their immediate goal is to take part in as many Ukrainian festivals as possible while also performing at their favorite hardcore shows. The musicians strive to balance appearances at major concert venues that introduce them to new audiences with performances in the local community that remains close to them. At the same time, they believe they have already earned significant recognition within the Ukrainian hardcore scene and continue developing their own style without compromise.
