History of the Band
IGNEA is a Ukrainian metal band founded in Kyiv in 2013. Originally, the band was called Parallax. It became the first band in Ukraine to combine metal with oriental musical elements. In 2013, the musicians entered Morton Studio - one of Ukraine's renowned rock and metal recording studios - to record their debut EP Sputnik. The following year, the band released the single Petrichor, featuring Yossi Sassi, guitarist of Orphaned Land. These early works laid the foundation for IGNEA's development on the Ukrainian metal scene and the formation of its distinctive melodic sound.
In 2015, the band changed its name to IGNEA and fully established melodic metal as its musical direction. That same year, they released the single Alga, recorded with a full symphony orchestra. The track quickly gained popularity among metal fans - the music video surpassed one million views on YouTube. On February 13, 2017, the musicians released the music video for the song Şeytanu Akbar, a composition calling for resistance against terrorism.
On February 16, 2017, IGNEA released its first full-length album, The Sign of Faith. The music combined heavy sound with oriental melodies while preserving the signature melodic character of melodic metal. The album featured epic compositions and the powerful vocals of Helle Bogdanova, blending mezzo-soprano singing with growling.
In the spring of 2020, IGNEA released its second album, «The Realms of Fire and Death», a conceptual record exploring the themes of fire and death throughout its compositions. The music video for the song Jinnslammer was filmed at the «Flying Saucer» building in Kyiv, located near the «Lybidska» metro station. The album also featured IGNEA's first Ukrainian-language song - «Black Flame». In June 2021, IGNEA signed with the Austrian label Napalm Records. On April 28, 2023, the band released its fourth album, Dreams of Lands Unseen.

IGNEA's Musical Style
