The first Ukrainian orchestra to cross the equator

Today, the National Odessa Philharmonic Orchestra is part of the musical history not only of Odessa, but also of the whole of Ukraine. The collective was founded in 1937 as a symphony orchestra of the Odessa Philharmonic. In 1993, the status of "state" appeared (Odesa Orchestra is the only collective outside Kyiv with such a status). This underlined the level of progress of the formation under the leadership of maestro Hobart Earle - the chief conductor and artistic director of the orchestra since 1991. And already in June 2002, the team was granted national status.

Among the conductors and soloists who worked with the orchestra in different years are David Oistrakh, Emil Gilels, Yevgen Kisin, Arvid and Maris Jansonsy and others. Each of them became an important part of the team's history. The period of Hobart Earl's rule is one of the brightest. Under the instrument of the maestro, successful tours took place in the countries of Western Europe, North America, dozens of cities of Ukraine, including the capital. And in 1995, during a trip to the Australian city of Perth, members of the orchestra crossed the equator.

The National Odesa Philharmonic Orchestra presented a large number of vivid concert programs, captivating thousands of listeners in the largest concert halls of the planet with masterful performances:
  • Musikferain in Vienna;
  • Barbican Hall in London;
  • Philharmonic in Cologne
  • Beethoven Halle in Bonn;
  • Carnegie Hall in New York and others.
Today, the outstanding team enjoys boundless authority in artistic circles and the sincere love of the public, which always arranges sold-out concerts at the orchestra's concerts.
